In the 18th and early 19th
century when rugs and carpets were scarce in rural New England,
painted floors and painted canvas floorcloths were used to add
beauty, convenience and protection to a floor.
With longer lasting
materials, today's floorcloths are even more durable. Floorcloths
are made of heavy canvas which is painted and/or stenciled.
Multiple layers of varnish seal and preserve the paint to make
them easy to care for and practically stain and waterproof.
A practical solution
in frequent spill areas. A welcome alternative for those with
dust alergies.
Custom floorcloths can be designed to complement your decor.
